Kenyan SME's are yet to fully embrace data-driven information

Kenyan SME's are yet to fully embrace data driven information in the running of their organizations.      According to a Kenyan data SMEs index 2018, 54.8% of the respondents had no experience with big data and data driven innovation, while 25.8% were considering and 16.1% are still on the pilot stage. Despite an explosion of data across different industries in Kenya and beyond majorly driven by technology 83.3% of the SME respondents had no data strategy, 10% had some form of data strategy while 7% were not sure. Five of the top sources of information among the respondents were financial transactions, social media, emails, events, open data or publicly available information.
