Former US President Barack Obama has returned to Kenya three years after his initial visit as a sitting head of state.
During a joint press address at State House with President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2015, Obama promised to return to the birth country of his late father Barack Obama Senior.
“Here’s what I can guarantee; I’ll be back. The next time I’m back I may not be wearing a suit,” Obama said.
After his stop at State House, Mr Obama will also hold talks with Nasa co-principal and Orange Democratic Movement party leader, Raila Odinga.

Obama is expected to fly to Kisumu County on Monday where he will be received by the Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o.
The 44th president of the US will then fly to his father’s ancestral home in Kogelo, Siaya County, where he will officially launch the Sauti Kuu (Powerful Voices) Foundation Sports, Resource and Vocational Training Centre.
As with his 2015 visit, Obama’s trip is expected to have traffic disruptions as some roads may be temporarily closed to private motorists.
Obama’s Monday stop-over in Kisumu County may be occasioned by crowds near the Kisumu International Airport and Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground from where his visit will be broadcast to the public.
Later in the day Obama will fly to South Africa where he will deliver the Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture and meet with President Cyril Ramaphosa before concluding his tour.
