Court of Appeal rules on Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter's appeal

11th July, 2018

Nandi Hills legislator Alfred Keter, is set to know his election fate today when the Court of Appeal in Eldoret makesits ruling this afternoon. The High Court in Eldoret nullified Keter’s win in March this year citing election malpractices.

In his verdict, Justice Kimondo said there was evidence the legislator conducted illegal campaigns outside the stipulated time.

Keter had sought the intervention of the Court of Appeal seeking that an earlier ruling by Justice Kanyi Kimondo of the Eldoret High Court to nullify his election, be set aside.  In the August poll, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission announced Keter as the winner with 28,923 votes against 13,872 garnered by his main rival Kitur. The petition challenging Keter;'s victory was filed by Benard kibor who vied on an independent ticket.
