Kenyans will now pay more for M-Pesa transactions – this coming after Safaricom affected new tariffs from June 1 2018. The telco giant revised mobile money charges after the government proposed a 2% increase on excise duty to mobile service providers. “Pursuant to the Finance Bill, 2018 and the Provisional Collection of Taxes and Duties Act, we have made the following adjustments to our M-Pesa tariffs,” read a circular from firm. Users will now not be able to withdraw less Sh150 from agents, and free transactions have been capped at 3 per number per day.
