Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan warns residents of Eldoret engaging in protests

23rd February, 2018

Confrontation between Uasin Gishu askaris and hawkers is now threatening to degenerate into a full blown ethnic fighting in Cosmopolitan County. Yesterday evening, at least 25 people including a journalist and two county askaris were injured following a battle with hawkers and the enforcement team who wanted to evict them from streets. Majority of those who were injured sustained panga cuts while others were clobbered ruthlessly by the askaris. Uasin Gishu county commissioner Abdi Hassan says four suspects have been over the incident.
