A young man in Makueni has surprised residents by personally ensuring uncollected ids reach their owners in a very interesting way. You see, Macdonald Mutuku volunteers to collect the ids from the local registrar’s office and using his vast networks and popularity personally takes the identification card to their owners. But there is a catch, for one to receive their id, they must accompany Macdonald to an IEBC registration Centre, register as a voter before being handed their id. And apparently the rather unorthodox method, according to the IEBC registration officer for the area, seems to be working. Macdonald says he began the exercise after the area registered a paltry 7,447 voters against a possible target of 18,000 with less than a week before the deadline for registration.
