The Kenya human rights commission and the Katiba institute have expressed their displeasure over plans to have out-going IEBC commissioners paid their dues up to when they were initially expected to leave office. The civil society groups through their ‘Kura Yangu, Sauti Yangu’ initiative insist that the constitution has no provision for having officers who resign receive their benefits over work not done. The group now says that the method used to restructure the electoral system ahead of 2017 polls has not addressed all pressing matters. Timothy Otieno explains.
