General Defao stranded in Mombasa after failing to pay accommodation charges

6th August, 2016

Popular musician Jaguar came to the aid of Congolese rhumba musician General Defao, who was stranded in Nyali Mombasa County. Defao had been detained in an apartment after his promoter allegedly abandoned him. Rashid Osundwa, who owns the renowned Bob’s bar along the Mombasa-Malindi highway, allegedly failed to pay for Defao's accommodation for two extended days; amounting to 20,000 shillings. Defao claimed Osundwa brought him to Mombasa for a show last Saturday, for which he was paid 90,000 shillings. He did not perform on Wednesday though, as he waited for a call from the management which did not come. Efforts to reach Osundwa for comment were futile as his phone was switched off.
