Some 78 people in Madogo, Tana River county are admitted at the area health center following an outbreak of cholera. Addressing the media after visiting an isolation center, county’s CEC for health Mwanajuma Hiribae said tests conducted on the victims’ culture samples in Hola had tested positive to cholera. Hiribae said the county government had come up with intervention measures in collaboration with other development partners as it emerged that lack of clean and safe drinking water was the major cause of the outbreak. She said following the recent floods, water supply to Madogo was stopped after Kenya power disconnected power to the water intake when the flood waters submerged them.
