Jubilee strikes again, de-whips Kang'ata as senate majority whip amid protest from Ruto allies

09, Feb 2021

Tonight, Murang’a senator Irungu Kang’ata has been axed by the jubilee coalition from his position as majority whip in the senate, hardly eight months after his controversial appointment. His Kiambu counterpart Kimani Wamatangi is now the majority whip. The dramatic ouster of Kang'ata was held during an extra ordinary senate parliamentary group meeting chaired by the party’s secretary general Raphael Tuju. We begin tonight, with KTN political reporter Geff Kirui, giving us the intrigues that led to the ouster of Kang'ata, who's biggest supporters today were the same people he ejected from key positions of the house.
