KTN Prime: Kisii University closed indefinitely after riots, 18/10/2016

Kisii University has been closed indefinitely and 37 students charged in court over the riots that occurred yesterday. The students had spent a night at the Kisii police station cells and were arraigned before chief magistrate Jesse Nyaga. Two of the students who were found with match boxes were charged with attempted arson of the university's science laboratory and were released on a bond of sh50, 000 each. The other 35 were charged with participating in an illegal riot and were released on a bond of sh10, 000 each. The students went to the streets and burnt down the fees collection office to protest a new rule which required they clear all fees arrears before the exams begin.
