Kikuyu council of elders meet with elders from North Eastern Region
16th August, 2014
The Kikuyu council of elders paid a special visit to Garissa County to meet with elders from that region and advise them on how to resolve conflicts peacefully.
The elders told their counterparts from the Somali community that if they were to meet as councils of elders each time there was a disagreement, then perennial clan conflicts would be easier to resolve. Their hosts from the North Eastern region welcomed the suggestions as the Garissa governor Nadhif Jama promised to support Somali elders in any efforts to Institue peace mediation efforts in the North Eastern Region.
