NTSA kicks off retraining of all Public Service Vehicles driver

12th March, 2018

The first batch of drivers who will be trained under the new driving syllabus will be tested in December, the NTSA has said. The reviewed curriculum for Public Service Vehicle drivers was unveiled on Wednesday at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi.

The NTSA director general Francis Meja said the new curriculum aims to empower drivers with knowledge and skills required to develop competence in managing attitude and behaviour change. He said the curriculum, bench-marked against best international driving standards, will be implemented in all the counties. The main objective is to increase road safety. “For a very long time, the country has not had any standard national curriculum that driving schools had to follow, and the calibre of instructors and quality of instruction have always been compromised, putting the sector in an awkward situation,” Meja said. He said the new syllabus will be introduced in July.
