Turkana squatters living in Kidong Ranch risk being kicked out by private developers
Over a thousand squatters of Turkana origin living in the controversial kidong ranch in narok-east are demanding for government intervention to get them permanent residence. The squatters claim they are descendants of the first Turkana families who were brought to the region by white settlers to herd their exotic breeds of cattle. The controversial ranch is being contested by members of the masaai community and private developers who claim to have bought it over the years from the masaais. But the Turkana squatters say they too have a right to the controversial land having lived there since the colonial days.
