Nurses in Nandi County down their tools paralysing operations

18th August, 2015

Nurses in Nandi County have downed their tools paralysing operations at the Kapsabet County Referral Hospital. Security officers have been deployed to guard the premises and patients visiting the facility are being turned away. The nurses join their colleagues from Nyeri and Uasin Gishu Counties. Operations in several hospitals in those counties remain paralysed as the nurses are pushing for better working conditions. The workers are also demanding a pay rise. They are accusing their respective county governments of failing to address their concerns. Union officials are accusing the county administrations of failing to effect promotions and ensuring timely remittance of their statutory deductions. County government officials have promised to address the grievances.
