Universities say they are ill-prepared to handle and implement the new CBC curriculum

29th July, 2021

It has emerged that Kenyan universities are ill-prepared to handle the competency based curriculum, CBC. The commission for university education chairperson professor Chacha Nyaigoti Chacha and the Kenya institute of curriculum development director, Professor Charles Ong’ondo, are warning that unless universities realign themselves to the demands of the CBC, they will be caught unawares when the first cohort of cbc learners will be joining university. Speaking during the 12th annual inter university conference for east Africa, held here in Nairobi, stakeholders warned that the lacklustre attitude by Kenyan universities towards cbc portends danger for transition from basic to higher education.
