The Future of IEBC: BBI proposes raft of changes to agency, Chebukati pens a letter to the public

Expected to play a pivotal role in the quest to change the constitution, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has opposed recommendations in the building bridges initiative report on the structure and composition of the commission stating that it curtails its credibility and independence. In an open letter to Kenyans, published in local dailies Wednesday, IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati says proposals such as having political parties appoint commissioners and the reduction of the length of term of office backtracks steps taken towards fair polls.
