16, Sep 2021

Former Sports Cabinet Secretary who presided over multimillion graft during the 2016 Rio Olympics Hassan Wario is a free man. Wario who later became Kenya’s ambassador to Austria has fully paid a 3.6 million shillings court fine to secure his freedom. His co-accused and fellow convict Stephen sang who was at the national Olympics committee then will however spend 10 years in prison after failing to pay a 115 million shillings fine. This conviction could be a major boost to the ongoing war on graft.
