Body of abducted 13-year-old found at Eskot at the border of Isiolo and Garissa counties
The body of a 13-year-old boy who was abducted a week ago while grazing his father’s goats in the Duse area of Isiolo County has been found at Eskot grazing land which borders Isiolo and Garissa counties, further fueling tension among two sets of pastoralist communities (Borana from Isiolo and Somali from Garissa) who have been clashing over resources along the border. The young boy had just completed his KCPE exams at Duse Primary School and scored 322 marks, emerging second in the school class of 2020 and was preparing to join secondary school later this year when the worst happened. According to Duse area residents, the boy’s body was badly burnt and pierced by the attackers who also went away with over 200 goats. They accused the police of taking too long to recover the body from the scene of the crime, with the swollen body which was almost bursting serving as an indicator that it had stayed there for more than two days.
