ELECTIONS IN AFRICA: Tests of democracy in Africa as countries take to the polls

From north, west to east Africa, it is election season in various parts of the continent. In guinea incumbent president Alpha Conde has won a second term, while in Egypt voters went to the polls earlier today to elect a new parliament. Closer home, voters in Tanzania are counting down to the October 25th election billed as the tightest race since independence.
