A fifth suspect was yesterday arrested in Isiolo in connection with the murder of lawyer Robert Chesang.
The suspect has been on the run since February 17 when Chesang was killed in his house in Lukenya, Machakos County.
He was brought to Athi River where he is expected to be taken to court and charged alongside other suspects already in custody.
Chesang’s wife, Nyeri Senior Resident Pauline Omungala Chesang, has already been arraigned after the killing and is expected to formally take plea on April 9.
She appeared in court alongside three other suspects and was remanded at Athi River Police Station.
The other suspects, Rtd Sergeant Richard Moru, Lawrence Lempesi and Police Constable Peter Maundu Mbithi were remanded at Machakos GK Prison.
Chesang, 46, was shot dead through the window of his house in Moke Gardens Estate in Lukenya.
Preliminary investigations indicated that Chesang had expressed fear for his life prior to his killing and remained indoors for two days.
A guard, who was on duty the day he was killed, told police that two gunmen arrived at about 12.30pm and demanded to be led to Chesang’s house.
They knocked at his door and when the lawyer peeped through the window curtains, one of the gunmen opened fire killing him on the spot.
