ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Community Engagement Lead, you will be responsible for growing and engaging our community of extraordinary talent in Nairobi. You will drive member recruitment & engagement by curating and overseeing in-person events & experiences. To succeed in this role, you must love engaging with people and have a knack for making people ‘feel at home’.

As Community Engagement Lead, you will be responsible for:

  • Recruiting Members: Drive membership recruitment by tapping into existing relationships & new networks to identify the most extraordinary ‘doers’ in Nairobi.
  • Managing key Stakeholders: Oversee effective relationship building & maintenance of key stakeholders (e.g. local advisory board or VIP members).
  • Curating in-person experiences: Design and identify unique, inspiring, and eclectic experiences that will help our members to build meaningful relationships.
  • Catalyzing member-driven gatherings: Encourage & support members to host their own events and ultimately facilitate a highly engaged, member-driven community.
  • Hosting selected events: Design effective agendas and serve as host for marquee events & experiences.
  • Identifying partners & spaces: For unique experiences, ‘pop-up Rooms’, excursions, and gatherings.
  • Supporting a healthy community: You will uphold our community’s values (including sometimes excluding people from our community if they violate community norms)

  • Member participation (number of member-hosted events & participation in local committees)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 7+ years of experience working in marketing, membership, content, events, or hospitality for a prestigious brand
  • An individual with an extensive book of contacts in the city
  • Strong Relationship building skills
  • A keen eye for high calibre talent
  • Experience with event planning and production and event vendors
  • Experience negotiating contracts greater than $100k USD
  • Experience with data collection, analysis, synthesis, and reporting, including through survey tools and experience with visitor studies or market research
  • Executive-level capacity for planning, financial management, delivery of programs within budget realities, and effective project management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong meeting facilitation skills
  • Ability to design and curate human-centric experiences

  • Experience with membership communities is a plus
