The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the Hospital’s Senior most executive, reporting directly to the Board and responsible for all aspects of the Hospital performance. While the Board retains the responsibility to authorize the Hospital overarching strategic and operational plans, the CEO co-creates the plan, working with and through the senior leadership team and working closely with strategic planning Committee. He or she is responsible for developing derivative plans with both strategic and operational dimensions, and managing overall Plan implementation.
Provide professional leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high quality and effective patient services within the Hospital.
Support the Board of Directors in defining the strategic direction for the Hospital to ensure its sustainability and assist in the determination and implementation of policies and strategies.
Direct, lead and motivate other team of managers to ensure a high standard of professionalism, efficiency, effectiveness and innovation in the delivery of the patient care.
Contribute to development and delivery of clinical and non-clinical leadership at organizational and n strategic level.
Together with IPC team, ensure clean surroundings, OPD Areas, Wards, and Labor Room, Theatre and Patient amenities
Periodical assessment of hospitals on quality check list and arrive at a quality score for the facility
Manage service budgets on behalf of the Board of Directors and keep a watchful eye on expenditure.
Ensure budgets are consistent with the company strategy and direction and successfully implemented
Monitor cash flow, prepare forecasts and reports for the Board of Directors. Monitor and reconcile income and expenditure statements through the management account and related invoices.
With the support of the Board of Directors , ensure a good public image through regular contacts with hospital clients, analysis of the patient exit survey, good collaboration with external partners such as the MOH , NMS and KMPDC,
Coach, train and motivate the teams working for the Hospital in order to improve the capacity of the staff and identify the potential of each employee in collaboration with the HR manager.
Ensure the implementation of the existing proposal on the Outreach programs for schools and the National police service
Establish specialist outpatient clinics ( Pediatric Outpatient clinic, Medical Outpatient clinic, Obs/Gyn Outpatient clinic and surgical Outpatient clinic etc)
In collaboration with the Board of Directors develop a robust Marketing strategy,
Ensure regular report sharing and update to the directors and the board
Functionally manage the top management team in the hospital.
Support implementation of the Health Management systems, operational guidelines, policies and procedures related to the Hospital. .
Maximizes performance of Hospital staff through effective deployment, support, development and
Ensure proper sourcing and negotiation for quality goods and services from suppliers in line with the set out procurement procedures and guidelines
Ensures development, proper utilization, protection and maintenance of hospital facilities, equipment and supplies in collaboration with the Biomed department
Accountable for sound management of department’s financial resources ensuring achievement of short and long-term business
Ensure development, proper implementation and regular review of emergency/disaster plan preparedness and
Ensure clinical and other targets are achieved by hospital
Help provide a conducive and enabling working environment for
Plan , encourage, lead and participate in continuing medical education for staff in collaboration with the medical team
Act as a role model to medical and non-medical staff for the application of the company values and policies
Provide information, advice and updates on new guidelines and policies on health, disease and their management.
Participate as appropriate in external activities which contribute to the standing and reputation of the Hospital
Be a holder of a Bachelor Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or its equivalent and a Master’s degree in health-related field from a recognized institution
Be a registered practitioner with the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board, Kenya, be a member in good standing and hold a current practicing license
Have knowledge and experience of not less than 15 years of relevant work experience with at least ten (10) years served in a senior management or leadership position
Possess a Strategic Leadership Development and Corporate Governance Certification from a recognized institution
Have thorough understanding of quality assurance within a hospital context, project analysis/ and evaluation, policy development and formulation and relevant legislations and regulations
A post graduate qualification in management or its equivalent from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
Experience with clinical systems development and implementation, work flow analysis and health
