A Nairobi based level 4 hospital, seeks a visionary, growth oriented Chief Executive Officer. This position will appeal to professionals with in-depth knowledge of clinical practice, with demonstrated capability of working with and leading multi-disciplinary teams, to build cohesiveness, implement change concepts and achieve excellence. Strategic, systemic thinkers, capable of representing the hospital in varied internal and external fora, are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide thought leadership for delivery of safe, quality patient care services in compliance to legislation, and commensurate to best practice and international standards.
  • Support the Board of Directors in defining the strategic direction for the Hospital to ensure its sustainability and assist in the determination and implementation of policies and strategies
  • Champion change, ensuring adoption of an inclusive and accountable culture, ensuring proper documentation of processes and guidelines and policies, monitoring achievements and milestones.
  • Contribute to development and delivery of clinical and non-clinical leadership at organisational and strategic level.
  • Spearhead innovation in medical practice, implementing forward looking strategies to enable the Hospital maintain International standards and its service offering.
  • Emulate the corporate values, becoming a go-to reference point, mentor and role model.
  • Direct, lead and motivate teams to achieve high standards of professionalism, productivity, revenue growth and ownership through all organizational levels.
  • Manage service budgets on behalf of the Board, ensuring consistency with strategy, and monitoring expenditure and cash flow.
  • Contribute towards talent acquisition of clinical and non-clinical leadership, their development, productivity, and retention.
  • Represent the hospital during external events, establishing strategic alliances that will give the Hospital desired visibility for growth.
  • Manage the Public Relations portfolio, maintaining contact with clients, key stakeholders, external parties such as MOH , NMS and KMPDC, the media and the general public.
  • Oversee CSR activities, collaborating with identified corporates and communities to impact mutually beneficial goals.
  • Monitor quality standards within the hospital, carrying out required assessments, checks and surveys to meet desired compliance and best practice levels.
  • Support the management of Health Management systems, operational guidelines, policies and procedures related to the Hospital.
  • Oversee the procurement function, ensuring proper sourcing and negotiation for quality goods and services in line with the set policy.
  • Ensure development, proper implementation and regular review of emergency/disaster plans for compliance, preparedness and response.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), or equivalent qualification, with a Master’s degree in health-related field, Business Management, and/or leadership;
  • Registered practitioner with the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board of Kenya, in good standing;
  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience, the last 10 being in a senior management or leadership position;
  • Strategic Management, Leadership Development and Corporate Governance Certification from recognized institutions;
  • Thorough understanding of quality assurance within a hospital context, project analysis/ and evaluation, policy development and formulation and relevant legislations and regulations;
  • Experience with clinical systems development and implementation, work flow analysis and health.

Skills and competencies

  • Ability to quickly assimilate, assesses, and act upon new concepts, trends and initiatives.
  • In-depth knowledge of clinical practice, procedures and standards.
  • Proficiency with organizational and professional interrelationships, conflict resolutions and change concepts
  • Ability to think systematically and understand the implications of policies and practices
  • Ability to direct projects and meet project milestones
  • Demonstrable knowledge of financial management tools, including budgets.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Strategic management, implementation and execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentation skills.
