Our client is a well established organization in the agriculture sector. The Board is seeking to recruit a suitable self-driven, result oriented and visionary Managing Director / CEO with good professional standing to oversee overall operations.

JOB PROFILE

The Managing Director / CEO shall be responsible to the Board of Directors in providing strategic leadership and implementation of the organization’s strategic goals. The specific duties shall entail the following:-

  • Providing strategic direction and leadership to the Company in order to achieve corporate goals.
  • Overseeing implementation of the corporate plans and strategies based on Company’s business philosophy, mission, vision, and core values.
  • Overseeing effective management and investment undertakings by ensuring sound policies and practices are adopted for optimal returns.
  • Ensuring that there is effective communication between Management and the Board as well as between different levels of Management.
  • Act as a link between the Board, Management and Staff, while ensuring implementation of Board directives.
  • Provide regular, thorough and prompt communication to the Board on key technical, financial and administrative matters.
  • Responsible for the administration and management of the Company including all human resource management matters.
  • Providing strategic linkages with the corporate world, business community, government agencies and other stakeholders for the benefit of the Company.
  • Providing leadership in business growth and customer service in line with corporate business plan and strategy.
  • Ensuring corporate compliance with all statutory legal, social and regulatory requirements in the execution of its business strategies.
  • Overseeing development and implementation of corporate social responsibility initiatives and ensuring that the company’s image is well projected and protected.
  • Ensuring that the Company adheres to the requirements of all Quality Standards it has subscribed to such as ISO, ISTA, OECD protocols, among others.

PERSON PROFILE

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences, Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, Management Science, Social Science, Public Policy or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • A Master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences, Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, Management Science, Social Science, Public Policy or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • A member of any professional group e.g. MSK, ICPAK, KIM, IHRM etc. is a requirement.
  • At least ten (10) years knowledge and experience in agricultural sector, eight (8) of which should be at Senior Management position in a large organization.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of finance, corporate governance, national, regional and international goals and policies.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of strategic leadership and management skills.
  • Be able to develop and implement performance management systems, giving candid performance feedback, rewarding exemplary performance and providing support to professional development efforts linked to strategic objectives.
  • Post graduate qualification in seed technology/processes will be an added advantage.
  • Compliance to Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
