Job Description

Just Diverso is an upcoming restaurant in Nairobi, Kenya.
The name was coined from the union of 2 languages with the meaning Just Different. Our mission is to bring different flavours together without any specific cultural identity and share a unique, creative and memorable food experience.

We are looking for a creative and proficient in all aspects of food preparation, Executive Chef. You will be head chef and maintain complete control of the kitchen so good leadership skills are very important.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities
  • Create and modify menus that meet quality standards
  • Estimate food requirements and food/labor costs
  • Supervise kitchen staff activities
  • Train kitchen staff on menu requirements and cooking methods
  • Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
  • Recruit and manage kitchen staff
  • Rectify arising problems or complaints
  • Give prepared plates the “final touch”
  • Perform administrative duties
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Keep time and payroll records
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

Requirements

  • Proven working experience as a Head Chef
  • Previous experience of opening a new restaurant
  • At least 10 years of experience in international high-end restaurants
  • Excellent record of kitchen management
  • Keep up with cooking trends and best practices
  • Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)
  • Knowledge of International cooking methods and food culture.
  • Ability to design a functional commercial kitchen with a good workflow to allow the staff to work easily.
  • Knowledge and execution of chemical and molecular gastronomy.
  • BS degree in culinary science or related course.
