Core Functions / Responsibilities

In particular, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

  1. Under the supervision of the Regional Vaccination Coordinator, conduct Quality Control/Quality Assurance on vaccine coverage in the region
  2. Monitor the cold chain in the region to verify if the standards are maintained according to CDC cold handling toolkit.
  3. Monitor the temperature alert systems in the region to verify all cold chain units are in proper working order.
  4. Assist the pharmaceutical technologist in the packaging, distribution and fulfilling of vaccine orders in the region. 
  5. Participate in the development and production of IEC (Instruction, Education, and Curriculum) material for the vaccine program.
  6. Support the Pharmaceutical Assistant in the region in the development and roll out of the Pharmaceutical Inventory Management System.
  7. Monitor and provide support to the region in vaccine stock management
  8. Support in the Implementation of the vaccination card in the region.
  9. Support non-IOM panels to implement the vaccine program.
  10. Participate in planned second dose vaccination activities.
  11. Conduct Training of Trainers (TOT) for nurses in vaccination in the region by implementing standard curriculum and material developed by the global vaccine program. 
  12. Support the Regional Vaccination Coordinator in vaccine and presumptive treatment procurement processes for the region.
  13. Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time

Required Qualifications and Experience


  • Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution with a valid Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) Practice License as a Registered Nurse


  • At least  3-year experience in the USRP expanded program for immunization.
  • Minimum of 10 years work experience in Clinical Nursing with an emphasis on vaccination
  • Experience in pharmacy management.
  • Knowledge of vaccine-preventable diseases and outbreak response an added advantage.
  • Mature individual, able to work independently, effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds at all levels.
  • Capable of working under stressful and difficult conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality in performing responsibilities.
  • Training and experience in Vaccination, TB, STDs, other communicable diseases and migration health is considered an asset. 
  • Ten-year work experience with an international organization and NGOs dealing with refugees
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access 


  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Swahili is required.
