The personnel will:
Specific tasks and responsibilities
v Reporting to the Chief, Digital Strategy, Division of Communications and Public Information/ UNEP the consultant will perform the following tasks and responsibilities:
v Develop, update and upload www.unep.org/Chinese
v Update UNEP Chinese websites
v Proofread all content to be posted on UNEP Chinese websites
v Ensure timely launch and regular update of the websites with the objective of ensuring that the Chinese versions are in pace with the main English sites;
v Write the Chinese language version of all other communication and promotional materials related to the existing and other campaigns and outreach activities that may arise;
v Ensure daily/timely updates of the www.unep.org homepage in Chinese;
v Translate website content, selected promotional materials and press releases into Chinese for general distribution and posting on the website;
v Translate press releases and relevant media content in Chinese
v Translate select publications in Chinese
v Develop, manage and maintain the static and dynamic Chinese content websites assigned by the Chief, Digital Strategy.
v Develop UNEP social media in Chinese
v Develop social media strategies and a creative execution plan, including rolling out a social media schedule to support corporate activities and flagship publications
v Engage potential and existing campaign partners from Chinese speaking countries;
v Generate original content for Chinese speaking audience
v Perform web and graphic development when required for social media use;
v Manage and monitor the Chinese social media networks
v Translate messages and post on Chinese social media networks
v Participate in other DCPI activities (training, meetings, workshops)
v Perform as an integral member of Digital Strategy Teams to ensure consistency of language versions of www.unep.org
v Promote UNEP's work and messages to the Chinese-language stakeholders via support to communications and outreach activities;
v Analyze requirements of Chinese website users/readers and provide them with pertinent environmental information
v Perform other related duties as assigned

UNOPS East Africa Hub
Located in Nairobi, Kenya, the East Africa Hub manages a growing portfolio of engagements, including associated strategic and operational risks. The East Africa sub-region currently consists of an established Operation Centre in South Sudan and a portfolio of engagements managed by the Kenya based East Africa Hub office. This includes primarily transactional projects in partnership with the Nairobi based UN Agencies UN-Habitat and UNEP, and multiple ‘operational’ projects in Somalia, Tanzania, Burundi, Uganda, Kenya and several island states.
