The Ministry of Education has canceled the results for four 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates over suspected irregularities.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, in his speech during the release of the 2023 KCSE results in Eldoret on Monday, January 5, said the four cases were reported as impersonation after the conclusion of investigations/

"The Council has canceled results of four cases of reported impersonation after completing investigations," Machogu announced.

Another 4, 109 candidates will miss their results after they were allegedly found to engage in exam malpractices.

"The results of the remaining 4,109 candidates who were suspected to have engaged in examination irregularities have been withheld pending the completion of investigations into their cases, within 20 days from today," said the CS.

Machogu also warned that action will be taken against teachers and exam center managers found to engage in exam irregularities.

"Unfortunately, one hundred and twenty (120) contracted professionals were reported to have been involved in aiding examination malpractices. Firm disciplinary action will be taken against such teachers."

2023 KCSE candidates who wish to appeal the results can do so within 30 days from today. They will be required to file their complaints before the National Examinations Appeals Tribunal.

A total of 899,453 candidates sat the national examination, which concluded on November 24, 2023.
