Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has expressed his displeasure at being left out of the list of State honourees announced by President William Ruto on Tuesday, December 12.

Kuria took to his X account to share a cryptic message, accompanied by two photos.

One photo showed the names of those who received the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (E.G.H.) award, the highest State honour.

The other photo showed the members of the National and County Government Honours Advisory Committee, a key office under the Office of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

“We shall be there no matter what,” Kuria wrote, implying that he was not deterred by the snub.

Kuria’s post suggested that he blamed Gachagua for influencing the selection process and favouring his allies.

Among the E.G.H. recipients were nine Cabinet Secretaries, 11 governors, Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla, Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, and several legislators.

President Ruto also awarded the E.G.H. to Faith Kipyegon, for her outstanding performance in sports.

Other State honours conferred by the President included the Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart (M.G.H.), the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (C.B.S.), and the Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (E.B.S.).

The awards were given during the 60th Jamhuri Day celebrations, which marked the anniversary of Kenya’s independence from colonial rule.
