An MCA elect at the County Assembly of Embu says his life is in danger.

This is after he was tortured by unknown people who broke into his house at Kiathambu Village in Mbeere North Subcounty in the wee hours of Monday, September 5.

The Evurori ward MCA, Dan Mbui, said the thugs ransacked his house but only got sh10,000.

"They got angry after finding we only had 10,000 only and we promised to get more money from the business premise at Ishiara Market about 12 kilometres to save our lives," he said.

Mbui, who was accompanied by his wife and two-year-old child, says they were then bungled into his car.

"This looks like a well-coordinated activity since they first disconnected power," Mbui said.

Mbui has called on the police to do thorough investigations adding that several people had been attacked within the Evurori ward.

Further, Mbui suspected that the attack was related to business and political rivalry.

"It is also sad when some of my competitors jam the social media to claim that it was a stage-managed incident, how do you stage-manage a life-threatening incident with your family?" Mbui posed.

"It is very unfortunate that political rivalry can get to this far," Mbui added.

Mbeere North Subcounty Police Commander, Eric Yego, says police officers are investigating the incident.

The minority leader in the second Assembly of Embu, Lenny Masters Mwaniki, has condemned the incident and called the County security team to increase patrols in all areas.

"Let the local police enhance the patrols whether in towns or their rural homes," he said.
