Mumbi Maina, Njugush, Jackie Matubia among Kenyans nominated for Choice Awards

A number of Kenyans have been nominated for the Choice Awards and will be flying the Kenyan flag high during this year’s African Choice Awards. For starters, Jackie Matubia, Sarah Hassan, and Mumbi Maina have been nominated for Female Movie Star of the Year, where they will compete against Nigeria’s Omowunmi Dada, Funke Akindele, and Tana Adelana, with Ghana and South Africa each receiving two nominations.

An elated Jackie shared the news with her followers on social media, who showered her with congratulatory messages. Recognized for her remarkable performance in Tahidi High, where she gained prominence, she stands out as one of the most promising talents in contemporary cinema.

“First role noma was Jolene! And I have been taking all of them since then. Thank you, Africa Choice Awards, for the nomination. Voting starts on the 7th of October, let’s bring this home,” she posted on her Instagram.

At the same time, her BFF Kate Actress is also over the moon after being nominated at the Africa Choice Awards for Female Brand Influencer of the Year. Media personality Annitah Nderu is also nominated in the same category, competing with other African stars.

In the Social Star of the Year category, socialite Vera Sidika, media personality Sheila Kwamboka, and Diana Bahati will face off against other heavyweights from across the continent.

Olympians Faith Kipyegon, Beatrice Chebet, and Emmanuel Wanyonyi have also received nominations for Athlete of the Year.

In the OAP category, Kenya’s Kamene Goro, Massawe Japanni, and Azeezah Hashim have been nominated.
