Covid-19: 177 recover as 28 test positive in last 24 hours

The Ministry of Health has so far administered 6,959,988 Covid-19 vaccines across the country, the Ministry of Health has announced.

Of these, 4,295,764 have been partially vaccinated while 2,664,224 have been fully vaccinated.

The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is 57.0 per cent. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 9.8 per cent as the government works towards vaccinating 27, 246,033.

Covid-19 numbers

Kenya also recorded 28 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, from a sample of 2,969 raising the country's caseload to 254,979.

In a statement on Monday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the new infections take the country’s positivity rate to 0.8 per cent and cumulated tests conducted so far to 2,830,071.

Out of the new patients, 15 are male, whereas 13 are female, with the youngest carrier being a five-year-old, and the oldest aged 85.

Of the new cases, three are foreigners while the rest are Kenyans.

Distribution

In terms of counties distribution, Meru County recorded 12 cases, Nairobi 8, Kakamega 4, Isiolo 2, Kiambu and Busia 1 case each

Kenya’s Covid-19 toll is now at 5,334 after one death was recorded in the last 24 hours.

Total recoveries now stand at 248,308 after 177 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours with 154 from the Home-Based and Isolation care programme while 23 patients are from health facilities across the country.

Of the total recoveries, 200,395 are from the Home Based Isolation Care programme while 47,913 are from various hospitals countrywide.

Admitted

A total of 169 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 816 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

The number of Covid-19 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) across the country are seven, six of whom are on ventilatory support and one on supplemental oxygen with none under observation.

Another 50 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen all of them in the general wards while one patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
