99 people test positive for Covid-19 in Kenya today in the last 24 hours

Ninety-nine people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Kenya today in the last 24 hours from a sample size of 4,895.

The total confirmed positive cases are now 252,938 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,687,142.

A statement from the Health ministry said 115 patients have recovered from Covid-19; 77 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care programme, while 38 are from various health facilities.

Kenya's total recoveries now stand at 246,505; with 199,121 from the Home-Based Care and Isolation programme and 47,384 from various health facilities.

Three patients have succumbed to the disease, pushing the cumulative deaths to 5,266.

Some 481 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, with 1,296 being under the Home-Based Isolation and Care programme.

Twenty-four patients are in the ICU, 12 of whom are on ventilatory support and 12 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.

Another 161 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 158 of them in the general wards. Three patients are in the High Dependency Units (HDU).

The Health ministry has said as of yesterday, more than five million vaccines had so far been administered across the country. Some 3,576,875 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 1,507,422.

"The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 40.0 per cent and the proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 5.5 per cent," the statement said.

The government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.
