A medical doctor based at Nyahururu County Referral Hospital has been put under isolation after testing Covid-19 positive.

The doctor who has a history of travelling to his Eastleigh home in Nairobi tested positive on Sunday and has since been put at an isolation centre at Nanyuki County and Referral Hospital.

According to Laikipia County Health CEC Dr Lenai Kimario, the medic was tested at a private hospital in Nyahururu before being evacuated to Nanyuki.

He said that health officials have since launched a search for his close contacts for testing.

"He started developing breathing complications and went to a private hospital only for him to test positive. He is at our isolation center in Nanyuki" said Dr Lenai.
