The State health insurer has reshuffled part of its top management to align services with the Universal Health Coverage(UHC) agenda.

The changes, contained in a statement from the insurer confirmed changes in various departments namely the operations and quality assurance, benefits and claims, public education and marketing.

The changes, which are with immediate effects, have affected Abdulahi Issack Ali, who is expected to lead the Fund’s operations in the wider Eastern and Northern Region.

Dr Samson Kuhora, has been tasked to head the Benefits and Claims department in an acting capacity. Dr Kuhora will be assisted by Judy Karimi an experienced clinical officer and Julia Ouko, another long term experienced clinical officer.

Both will work as Acting Managers Claims and Benefits respectively. Another experienced Officer, Bwana Mzee Hamisi, has been recalled from his Lamu station to serve at the Fund at Headquarters ICT Department as a Senior Assistant Manager.

Other reshuffles include; Phyllis Nyakiba who has been Head of Communication but now will head regional Marketing and Robert Otom, who will be acting Head of Registration and Compliance.

In the changes, all the six regional managers have been reshuffled. Further, the Public Education docket will now be handled by Gilbert Osoro who has a broader knowledge of the Fund’s products and an experienced manager.

“These changes have seen staff with medical background take over the leadership of the quality and assurance function to enhance technical capacity,” read the statement from NHIF.

The Board said the insurer has embarked on strengthening the Fund’s delivery system by aligning and balancing the human resource skills to key functions for efficiency, job satisfaction and career growth.

In July, NHIF advertised for the position of Chief Executive Officer and the Director Internal Audit.

“The Board is confident, that this new lineup will move its reform agenda towards a desired NHIF for the republic of Kenya,” added the statement.
