University to establish school of nursing in Iten after inking deal with County
SEE ALSO :Big shots set for Eldoret City MarathonThe vice-chancellor added that students at the Kenya Medical Training College Iten Campus would have an opportunity to upgrade their diplomas in nursing to a bachelor of science in nursing degree. “Nurses are primary caregivers who are few in the country. We hope to use the Iten College to train more,” said Akenga. Under the MoU, which was seen by The Standard, UoE will admit students through government and private sponsorship while the county government will allow the university to use county hospitals for teaching and research. While praising the deal with UoE, Governor Alex Tolgos revealed that his administration and the university would collaborate on several other ventures that would benefit all the parties. Mr Tolgos said the university will start offering sports courses aimed at assisting those athletes who opted to train in Iten to take advantage of its high altitude.
