Newly promoted side Kenya Police will be seeking redemption when they host Gor Mahia today in an early FKF Premier League kickoff match to be played at Kasarani.

Police are winless in their last two matches after going down to Tusker and KCB in identical 2-1 defeats but new signing Clifton Miheso believes they have the quality to stop the record Kenyan champions.

Speaking to the Standard Sports yesterday, the former Gor Mahia winger said despite a tough start to the league they are focused towards stopping Gor which will boost their morale going onwards.

“We have respect for Gor Mahia. They have quality players who are in form but this is football. We have been training well he past few days and we believe a win today will really boast the team as we continue building the team’s chemistry going forward,” said Miheso.

Police are yet to hit the ground running in the top tier league after only registering one win out of their last five matches played, a 3-1 win which came at the hands of another struggling side Nzoia Sugar.

They occupy 14th place on the log with a paltry three points. The law enforcers opened their season's account with a 1-0 loss to Kakamega Homeboyz before going down 2-0 to Nairobi City Stars in addition to recent defeats to Tusker and KCB.

Meanwhile, Wazito FC poor start to the 2021-2022 seasons continued yesterday after losing 2-0 to KCB in a match played at Kasarani.

Derrick Otanga put a Man of the Match performance to inspire the bankers to victory with his two goals scored in each half. The win propelled KCB to joint fifth in the log with 11 points from six matches.

On the other hand, the defeat left Wazito winless in the opening six matches played.

After six matches, Wazito have managed two identical 1-1 draws against newbies Talanta and Kariobangi Sharks and lost four games against Kakamega Homeboyz (1-0), Nairobi City Stars (3-1), Tusker (2-0) and now KCB.

The winless run has left the club second last in the 18-team standings with two points registered from their two draws, one point above bottom placed Vihiga Bullets.

“We played well against Wazito. The early goal helped us settle into the match and I am happy with the win. I know we missed a lot of chances but I believe if we continue working hard in training and executing our game plans goals will come,” said KCB coach Zedekia Otieno after the match.

Other matches today will feature Mathare United taking on Bidco, Nzoia Sugar hosting Posta Rangers and Nairobi City Stars entertaining bottom placed Vihiga United.
