NSL: Kisumu All Stars keen to maintain unbeaten run as Fortune Sacco goes top

Kisumu All Stars head coach Salim Babu is optimistic his team will maintain their upward trajectory in the National Super League (NSL) standings after they extended their unbeaten run to seven matches after playing out to a 2-2 draw against Soy United over the weekend.

Babu says their objective is to finish in the top two positions come the end of the season and earn an automatic qualification spot back to the FKF Premier League.

“We have seen some good football displayed by the players since the league started and am happy with where the team is so far.”

“The objective of this team is to return back the top tier league and maintain our impressive form is the way to go now,” he told Standard Sports.

The team relies heavily on the blend of young prospects and the experienced core having done numerous rotations so far into the season.

The former Western Stima tactician is confident the level of competitiveness makes the team the most potent side in the league this season.

“The team has depth, youth and experience cutting across all playing positions and am happy with the performances of all the players both during match days and in training.”

“The competition is very healthy for both players and team as we are able to get positive results in terms of player development and club progress,” added Babu.

Kisumu All Stars are currently joint second in the NSL standings with 13 points same as Talanta and Coast Stima.

All Stars will travel to play Talanta in the top of the table clash on Sunday 9 (January 31) with an eye of going top hoping leaders Fortune Sacco who face Silibwet drop points.

Surprise package Fortune Sacco went top of the NSL standings after forcing a 1-1 draw against Kenya Police to go a point above Talanta and Coast Stima who lost their matches.

In the meantime, Muranga Seals are still searching for their first win of the campaign after losing to Modern Coast by a solitary goal, a defeat that left them rooted t the bottom of the table with one point from seven matches played.

Mwatate and former KPL side Mount Kenya United follow suit in 19th and 18th position respectively as the battle for avoiding relegation heats up.
