Gor Mahia a game away from winning KPL title to make their trophy tally 18

Gor Mahia FC are only a game away from winning the 2019 league title to make their trophy tally 18.

Gor Mahia, who defeated Sopafaka FC 2-0 at a fan-packed Kisumu Stadium will only require to win against Nzoia United at Sudi Stadium on Wednesday to clinch the title for a record 18th time.

Samuel Onyango (56th) and Jacques Tuyisenge (76th) ensured that the hosts (Gor Mahia went with three maximum points to put their tally to 66, ten above Batoto ba Mungu, whom they beat at the Kisumu’s Artificial turf, in a stadium that they have enjoyed a winning streak on.

The two teams had battled for a goalless draw in the initial half of the game before the two strikers scored the deciding goals.

After the match against Nzoia, Gor Mahia will face their Arch rivals AFC Leopards in a Mashemeji Derby that will be played at Kasarani. 

In other matches Nzoia United were forced to a one-all draw by brewers Tusker FC at the Ruaraka Grounds, as Zoo Kericho narrowly defeated Ulinzi FC 2-1 at Kericho Green, Homeboyz added mystery to Western Stima at Bhukungu Stadium after they saw them off 2-0.

Before Ng’ombe sponsored Mathare United collected two free goals and three points after financially troubled Mt. Kenya failed to turn on for the game.

Sony FC forced visiting Leopards into a barren draw in a match staged at the Awendo Green stadium in another encounter, Posta Rangers also forced Vihiga into a one-all draw.
