It will cost Sh202,000 to buy freedom for Ms Asha Nella Njongoo, a Kenyan househelp who was reported by PointBlank on Tuesday to have gone missing in Saudi Arabia.

A man claiming to be her employer, and who is allegedly holding her travel documents, wrote a text message to her husband, Mr Elijah Kang’ethe, on Wednesday demanding the money.

"2000$ this is what we paid for agency, send it to me by western union then your wife will be back to kenya, ok. Think then decide. my name is Rafaat Reda Azzooni (sic)," he said.

Earlier, the same person had written warning Kang’ethe not to call him again as the matter was being handled by police.

He wrote: "Please don’t call me again as I told you (sic) subject is with police. Sorry this is her destiny."

The employer had alleged that Njongoo had run away to an unknown destination. She had, however, earlier told her husband that she was being mistreated by her employer.

At the moment, there is, a ray of hope as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Muslims for Human Rights have contacted Kang’ethe to help him pursue the case.
