A woman was left stunned on her son's wedding day when she made the incredible discovery that the bride was in fact her long-lost daughter.

The mother of the bride and groom was reportedly left in floods of tears after she realised who it was that was marrying her son when she noticed a birthmark on the woman's hand.

The extraordinary reunion happened in Suzhou, Jiangsu province in China on March 31.

The new 'mother in law' had noticed at the ceremony a mark which was similar to the one on her lost daughter's hand, Times Now News reports.

After spotting the distinct mark, the woman reportedly approached the bride's parents and asked if she had been adopted more than 20 years ago.

The family was said to be baffled by the question as it had long been a secret but they went on to reveal that they had in fact found a baby girl by the roadside years ago.

They went on to bring her up as their own daughter.

The long-lost daughter reportedly described the moment of meeting her mum as 'happier than the wedding day itself.'

Understandably she soon became concerned about marrying her older brother but in another twist it transpired that he had been adopted and so there was no objection to the marriage going ahead.

The woman had seemingly adopted a boy after losing hope of finding her missing daughter, Oriental Daily reported, and she had searched for her for years but without success.

She said that there would be not be any problem in the marriage as the pair were not biological siblings.

The bride was said to be 'relieved' and the couple completed the wedding ceremony with no other major surprises.
