Bad cooking habits that make you gain weight

You are eating healthy meals but despite the effort you are not shedding any weight or as much as you should. It could be frustrating if you are not seeing progress despite putting in so much effort. The following are some of the things you should be paying attention to for maximum results.

  1. Veggies made wrong

Vegetables are the remedy to most lifestyle diseases but for them to give the maximum health benefit they have to be made to the specification per fruit. Otherwise if you overcook, the heat damages the nutrients which end up being useless.

  1. Using wrong oils

The best oils for cooking are often those with high smoke points. These oils include sunflower, olive, and sesame oils, among others. Other cooking oils have been linked to hypertension if not used to the right heating points in cooking. The fatty acid profile needs to stay intact and not heat past its smoking point.

  1. Using excess oil

Once you make a choice of using healthy oils, ensure that you use very little oil, preferably two tea spoons is enough for a little portion to serve 4. Adjust upwards or downwards if portions change.

  1. Frying foods

Do not be enthusiastic about frying foods. Even when you fry them at home, there is still the risk of overcooking and having the excess fat with remaining in the food. Instead; bake, steam, air fry or grill your meals as an option because it adds less calories to your prepared meals.

  1. Eating while cooking

Eating a balanced diet often includes checking portions. Most people do not consider eating while cooking to be part of the calorie count in the overall meal. This often results in more calorie intake than usual resulting to weight gain.

  1. Fiber portions:
