Wife finds out husband has slept with 341 women during a live TV interview

Relationships

Finding out that your partner has cheated on you is a soul-crushing, heart-breaking, world-shattering moment for any individual. It's an act of pain and betrayal no one would wish on their worst enemy.

Finding out that your partner has cheated on you on television, surrounded by cameras, with millions of viewers watching at home, is quite simply unimaginable. This is the shockingly sad scenario one woman found herself in as she and her husband appeared on American reality show Iyanla: Fix My Life on the Oprah Winfrey Network. Brandi and Jason appeared on the show to try and fix their marriage.

Brandi Maxiell married retired basketball player Jason Maxiell in 2010 after 17 years together. The pair, both 35, were childhood sweethearts and have a six-year-old son together. They appeared on the show in an effort to save their marriage, which had been rocked by Brandi's opinion that her husband has a "drinking problem", his lying and the fact that he had cheated on her.

At the start of the episode, Brandi is under the impression that Jason has had eight affairs during their eight year marriage. Brandi was devastated to learn the extent of her husband's cheating and lying.

However she soon discovers this isn't the case. The show's host, life coach Iyanla Vanzant asks Jason: "Does she know how many women you've slept with?" He says she doesn't, before revealing that the number of women he's had sex with during their marriage is actually more than 50.

Hurt, Brandi calls the affairs "disgusting" before breaking down in tears and leaving the room.

During the episode she broke down crying and walked out. Iyanla chases after her, but Jason remains in his seat the entire time. In a separate interview for the show, Jason, who used to play for the Detroit Pistons, then reveals that during his life, he's slept with a shocking total of 341 women.

When asked how he could sleep with so many women, he explained: "At the time it was easy to do, to be pleasured that way. And I don't know if I was looking for something else in it or trying to receive something else through it but I did do it." He added that he isn't a sex addict and that the sexual interactions were merely "two to three hours of being away", but he wasn't sure what it was he was trying to get away from.

Iyanla tells him that her mantra in life is that: "A man is who is mother makes him to be because she controls the heart, now he'll demonstrate what his father did, but who he be that comes from his mother." Brandi was also interviewed separately for the show, during which time she revealed that their son had gotten caught up in their relationship issues. While the couple's episode only aired on TV in America this month, filming for the show actually took place a year ago. It is unclear whether the pair are still married today, as Brandi is sometimes pictured on Instagram wearing her wedding ring. However in a statement for The Shade Room she proclaimed that her focus now is not on being a good wife, but being "the best mother" she can be.
