I want to end things but I work for his mum and she might fire me plus he has exams coming up and might fail them
I’m 21 and my boyfriend is 20. To cut a long story short, I don’t love him anymore and I’m in love with someone else who I’ve been seeing for about two weeks. My boyfriend has no idea I’m being unfaithful.
I want to end things between us but the thing is I work for his mum and I’m worried she might fire me. That can’t happen because I really need this job.
Also, he has exams coming up and he might fail them if I dump him. What do I do?
The only bit of this letter that’s not selfish is worrying about his exams. Staying with someone you’re cheating on because you’re worried you’ll lose your job is a selfish attitude.
You’re young and I’m not judging you for meeting someone else – that’s life – but you need to do the decent thing. What else are you going to do? Stay with him until you’re 65 and retire because you need the job?
You know it’s unrealistic and unfair to keep him hanging on. Yes, his mum might let you go if her son is very upset, but she might not. So don’t dig yourself any deeper. If she finds out you’re cheating on him, she definitely won’t take kindly to that.
If his exams are imminent, then you could wait until he’s finished, but don’t see this other lad in the meantime.
In my opinion you should end it as soon as possible. He’s going to be hurt either way and he’ll be even more devastated if he finds out you’ve been seeing someone else behind his back.
