It goes without saying that red carpets have often been criticised for being wasteful and unsustainable. This is mostly because some celebrities only wear an outfit once and never dare to repeat it.

A red carpet look takes hours and hours of preparation but as this is happening, some designers give it their best to make sure their gowns come out as eco- friendly.

While some have embraced this trend, some celebrities have chosen to be fashion eco-friendly. Tiffany Haddish and Jada Pinkett Smith recently embraced this fashion at The Academy awards. They both stunned in green gowns at the just concluded Oscars.

Zendaya, Priyanka Chopra, Cate Blanchett among others are some of the notable names who have embraced this kind of fashion before.

One company has made it its mission to make the red carpet a sustainable space. The Red Carpet Green Dress is a women-led global change-making organization bringing sustainability to the forefront of conversation and action within the global fashion and apparel industry.

The company which is in partnership with the annual Academy awards works towards pushing environmental and social sustainability fashion to the ground.

This is part of what the Red Carpet Green Dress does. Making celebrities embrace eco-friendly gowns.

While there are so many myths surrounding sustainable fashion, the whole idea of this kind of fashion is to create awareness, education and finding new ways in the industry to influence the designers` approach and the red carpet.

One would be curious enough to ask how creating sustainable designs work?

According to Samata Pattison, Red Carpet Green Dress CEO, they always ensure to have high levels of sustainability.

“The process includes reducing the waste of textile processes which do not have a negative impact on biodiversity, certified eco-friendly, organic or recycled materials, a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and water usage, as well as the usage of botanical or low-impact dyes to process textiles”, she says. With the help of our partners, they provide us with the most sustainable materials”, she added.

Pattinson further insists that conversations surrounding sustainable fashion should take place for people to understand it better.

With the world going in the eco-friendly direction, many stylists and designers have now embarked in creating sustainable pieces.
