Eagle-eyed fans are convinced Meghan Markle was "hinting" at her baby's gender after she wore a giant sustainable sapphire in her first appearance since quitting the royal family.

The Duchess of Sussex was spotted with the enormous £862 (Sh131k) pink cocktail ring on her finger in the promotional video for her and Prince Harry's new Archewell Audio podcast.

The 20-second clip, filmed in the couple's £11 million (Sh1.68 B) Santa Barbara mansion, was their first public appearance since they were officially stripped of their titles last week.

Royal watchers were quick to praise Meghan's eco-friendly fashion choice made from ethically sourced pave diamonds and 100 per cent recycled gold.

And fans believe the six carat Rose Cut Pink Sapphire might be a "subtle" sign that Meghan is expecting a little girl.

“Is the "pink" ring an "indication/hint" that it might be a little girl?”, one wrote on Instagram.

Another agreed adding, “Is this pink stone a hint”

A third said: “Was that her subtle way of saying I'm having a girl?”

The ring is designed by Canadian brand Ecksand whose online description reads: "Step into the spotlight. This Ecksand Mosaic ring is a bold statement that will elevate any look, day or night.

"This cocktail ring features a vibrant pink sapphire.

"The natural diamond pavé on the band adds subtle sparkle.

"This pink sapphire ring is cast in classic yellow gold for lifetime wear.

"The subtle prong setting leaves the focus on the dazzling ethical gemstone."

The couple are currently raising their son Archie at their new California home and revealed they were expecting another baby in a surprise Valentine's Day announcement last week.

They are next expected to appear as they sit down with Oprah in a primetime special to be aired next month after they formally exited the royal family last week.
