Lesbianism is rampant in schools

I am worried about the rising cases of lesbianism in our high schools. Recently, three girls were arrested for forcing a form one girl to join lesbianism and now a school in Karen has suspended over ten students with related allegations. Is it a reality that lesbianism is gaining popularity in secondary schools? What is the church doing about this? I am worried since I have a child in high school and I am sure other parents are worried as well...

Your Take:

It is true that cases of lesbianism are soaring by the day in boarding schools. In a country where more than 70 per cent of its citizens are Christians, this should not be the case. The church should rise up to the occasion and facilitate seminars in schools and even during holidays to inculcate good morals and condemn such behaviours.

Deviant sexual behaviour among the youth is on the rise. Clearly parents have their work cut out. But how many take a chance to sit their children down and counsel them on what is good and bad? The problem is poor parenting and if all of us can take it upon ourselves to train and talk to our children, we would not be hearing of such stories. Let’s not forget our Godly assigned roles.

Parents are to blame for the rising cases of lesbianism in schools. They have failed to execute their roles as parents and have left their children to learn from the media. Who are our children’s role models? If we have left them to ape the Rihannas, Beyonces and Jay Zs, what do we expect from them?

I have been wondering where the parents are as young girls continue indulging in such ungodly behaviours in schools. It is no secret lesbianism is taking place in high schools. Some administrations are aware yet they do nothing about it to protect the school’s image. It is high time parents woke up from the slumber and start addressing such issues.

My take:

The primary responsibility in ensuring that your child grows up in a certain way of life lies with the parents. The foundation that you set for your child determines a lot about the routes they take up later in life. Yes, it is a reality that homosexuality is increasingly becoming popular in schools and in society. Churches, schools and other institutions are doing a lot to contain and possibly eliminate these habits. However, as children grow up they become more independent about their own decisions. This gives us parents the responsibility of shaping their value to the right ways. This is because they make decisions based on the value instilled into them. If you teach them your ways, they will take up your ways and likewise if you teach them to take up the ways of this world, they will take up the ways of the world. Remember, you have the primary responsibility of shaping their values.
