Nairobi, Kenya: President Uhuru Kenyatta left the country for Arusha, Tanzania on Wednesday morning to attend the 17th Ordinary East African Community (EAC) Heads of State Summit.

This comes six days after returning from a historic three day visit to Israel. While in Israel  President Uhuru Kenyatta visited the Wolfson Medical Centre in Holon, Tel Aviv where more than 20 Kenyan children have undergone heart surgeries through an initiative by Save a Child’s Heart Kenya, a non-governmental organisation headquartered in Israel.

The President was also able to reach an agreement paving the way for direct flights between Nairobi and Tel Aviv.

On Sunday, President Uhuru again left the country for Djibouti to attend a heads of state summit on Somalia. The Amisom’s meeting aimed at reviewing and revamping the mission’s operations in Somalia, working in-conjunction with the Federal Government of Somalia and Somali National Security Forces.

Last year, the President  was on the spot for too many foreign trips, perceived to be a burden to the tax payer.

However, President Kenyatta’s supporters are on record defending the trips, saying they are of great value to the country.
