I have not had sex for 11 years- Prophetess Monica Nyambura

Prophetess Monica Nyambura and Samuel Gichuki
According to Prophetess Monica Nyambura Kibui, she hasn’t had sex for 11 years since parting ways with her ex-husband On the day Samuel Gichuki opened his heart to me, he was trembling and sweating, says preacher of the man she is to wed today

The female pastor Nairobi men were salivating over is now taken. Prophetess Monica Nyambura Kibui married for the second time after 11 years of abstaining from sex.

The sassy preacher first came into public limelight around 2015 when ‘Team Mafisi’ saw her as a target.

Monica will today (Friday 9) wed Samuel Gichuki Kariuki along Kiambu Road. Her first marriage was not through a church wedding.  Her first husband has since moved on, got married and now has two children.

Monica told The Nairobian that, “I’ve been married before but things did not work out for us. I was naïve and accepted to be married because of family problems and the challenges of life.”

That was in 2007 when her son, now 11, was one and “afterwards life became tough for me because my mother was also suffered severe stroke that paralysed half her body.”

She started afresh, doing odd jobs “from being mama nguo in Kibera and other slums to hawking along Thika Road.”

Born in Naivasha and partly brought up in Mombasa, Monica enrolled for short courses after high school, including counselling which she is yet to clear.

She confesses that she’s never been intimate with a man for 11 years since she parted ways with her first husband.

“We are all humans and not holy. Though I have been tempted, I’ve never fallen and have never been involved with a man, besides the occasional date. I’ve been fasting a lot and avoiding certain foods,” she said.

Even after meeting the man she describes as humble, loving and caring, Monica says she has been pure and will wait until after they exchange vows today before resting in his arms.

The preaching, her calling, started in childhood when she claims she received prophesies.

And so, going into full-time preaching came naturally when she was a worship leader at the Oasis of Grace in 2010 when a friend introduced her to Travel Preaching that saw travel outside the country and rising to fame.

“Having visited almost all Countries in Africa to preach, I settled in Kenya in 2015 and started The Prophetic Hour Ministry in the city centre,” she explains. That is where she holds monthly keshas.

Among her congregants was Samuel Kariuki, an auditor and real estate manager, who waited and finally poured his heart out in January 2017.

“He used to come to church and supported me, including fasting with me. In 2016, I prayed to God to give me a husband and my own church. My first prayer to get a man was answered when he approached me. Initially, I turned down his advances and prayed for three days.

She says that, “When I resurfaced and told him my answer was a big yes, he also vanished for one week to pray. It was not easy. He is young like me and has never been married. On the day he opened his heart to me, he was trembling and sweating.”

“Those who have been trying to tune me were elderly. In 2016, more than 10 men tried their luck but to no avail because we were not connecting. But when Samuel said he wanted to marry me, I was shocked.”

The couple have known each other for more than three years but have been seeing each other seriously for the last six months, including visiting each other’s parents.

“Six months was enough for us. He has paid bride price according to our tradition and we have been blessed in another ceremony. This will be a simple one, no best man or woman. It will not be a complicated affair,” she said, adding that, “I want to have two more kids but he proposes three that is why we are going for a 10-day honeymoon...to make babies!”

She acknowledges that God hates divorce, but observes that it’s unfair that women are not favoured when it comes to marriage like men.

“I’ve been longing for a man to comfort me during difficult times, like when I was told I’m misleading single women.”
